SWC (Stillwater Mining) Sold $13.75

*
I just sold one of my two remaining SWC positions.  It had a divergence that did not look like price would hold for long and so I took another small gain off the table.

  1. Hi John, have you ever tried a traders view of the MACD indicator using 3,6,7 I have found over the years 30+ that its a very early indicator for turns, continued success to you!

    Cheers!

  2. I've never looked at that specifically, but it is probably extremely close to the 4,7 TSI that I often use, without a moving average. Sounds like you and I are on the same page. You just got to the same page about 25+ years before I did :) Thank you for your post and thoughtfulness.

  3. Your welcome, its always nice to get confirmation from a fellow chart investor..."what we think we see" it will be interesting how the "Death Cross" plays out as so many key indexs have painted this indicator on the chart....good luck to us all!

  4. Increasingly I am feeling I have a good hunch how this "Death Cross" is going to play out in the immediate future and am working on a post now, coincidentally, to provide some data and a bullish argument. Stay tuned and more feedback will be both welcomed and appreciated!

  5. John, good call on ANO.

I'm new to TSI having only discovered your blog recently. Looks like you apply a shorter term EMA (4) and then a longer term EMA (7) which is reverse from what seems to be the normal TSI application. Do you have a blog article that goes into detail on your reason for this ordering? I'm using the ThinkOrSwim platform and when I set the TSI parameters to 4, 7 it gives different values on the TSI plot from yours. For example on todays (7/27/2010) GDX close the TSI on your hourly chart shows -0.58 but ThinkOrSwim TSI shows -17.461

ThinkOrSwim must multiply the TSI by 100 and your charting program doesn't but remove that 100 multiplication an -.17461 is still way off from -0.58.... Any thoughts? Thanks, Bruce

  6. Hi! Well, welcome aboard.

Whether one puts in (4,7) or (7,4) I notice it works the same.

I have never seen such an article nor have I written one (yet). I do however have a post ready to put up tomorrow that will probably give you the insight you seek.

Yeah, a couple years ago I was getting the TSI by paying for it. I used Prophet.net and a friend of mine used something else - can't remember at the moment what it was called. Anyway, he and I had the same problem communicating numbers as it appears you and I will have if you do not switch some of your activity over to www.FreeStockCharts.com

I can't explain what the problem is because I do not have the correct information. It should, however, give us the same desired results.

Thank you again for writing - great questions - and please do not hesitate to write again.
